The Eulogy of Karma Hamady

We all know the story now; we’ve read the papers. We’ve watched the television. We now know of the act, the face that Karma Hamady chose to allow us to see; and we know of its cunning and intent.

While the ramifications of her actions shocked the world, few could have grasped the scope of her death. For we all now know of Karma Hamady’s other life, her true life. The life of an artist, a free spirit, a talented musician with a genius ear, and yes, as we now know, one of the most notorious revolutionaries in history.

n127100139_31153662_6173Few, in all honesty, could have detected it through the fog of Karma’s exterior. Even fewer could comprehend the dossier when it was first received from the Joint Operations Unit that was charged with her assassination. Representing the combined interests of Iran, Israel, France, China, Russia, North Korea, Great Britain, and of course, the United States of America, the scale of the effort to end Karma’s life and movement were unprecedented.

But those who knew Karma and the company she kept were surely not surprised at the news that the multi-national unit to destroy her was led by the now un-masked Central Intelligence Agency officer, Will Donovan.

Never before have such competing adversarial nations embarked so cohesively, so cooperatively, in order to bring an end to such a “dangerous,” as they called her, “war criminal.” “Terrorist,” they said; “Criminal Mastermind.” But they were merely frightened of her power, and her vision for a better world.

For those who knew her (of course, so few knew of her true profession), they knew she was not dangerous. At least, not dangerous to the people. But of course she was a danger, an enormous danger, to others: The State, the Establishment, the Institution, and the Powerful. She, we now know, had led revolutions against these machines of inequitable authority both quiet and loud, both peaceful and bloody.

From masterminding the Iranian Revolution in 1979, to the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles in 1991, to the Bit-Torrent movement in the latter half of the past decade, Karma was, it now seems, at the forefront of every major counter-culture revolution, armed and unarmed, since the early 1960′s. It appears now that it was feared Karma was preparing for her greatest symphony of all, a movement for which so many enemies set aside their differences in order to stop.

Teaming with a group of likely and unlikely men and women, including Banksky, the now-revealed living John Lennon, British Crown Prince William, several former Israeli Defense Force special forces soldiers turned anti-Zionist warriors, and the now exposed agent Donovan, she planned multiple cohesive revolutions the size of which had never been known. Revolutions of the mind, of the soul, of love, of the people, and of course, of the violent overthrow of every 1st world government, beginning with the United Kingdom during the London Olympic Games in 2012.

But as it is now well known, Karma discovered Donovan’s treachery, leading to a quintessentially picturesque Mexican Standoff on the slopes of Mount Lebanon, as revolutionaries, secret agents from all over the world, and the great adversaries Donovan and Hamady stared each other down over the barrels of steel and nickel.

We don’t know who fired first, but we do know that, with no one left standing but the mortally wounded Hamady and Donovan, the two sat down and watched the sun set over the western mountains of Syria as they traded unclever jokes about Beirut’s taxi drivers.

They are believed, according to forensics, to have passed away at roughly the same time, their hands still tightly clenched in thumb war. Karma, it was reported, was the victor of their last battle. Had her revolution succeeded, clearly the world would be a better place, a more loving and generous place, but perhaps civilization was not yet ready for her vision. A vision of smiles, of wine, of endless Gitane Blondes and mandatory orgagami crane folding twice-daily.

But though her grand plot was foiled, agents who arrived at the scene first reported a smile on her face. Perhaps she knew of a shred of what we also know now.

For though presidents, prime ministers, and kings hailed her death as, “a great victory for global civilization,” it would be those same cooperative efforts among foes to destroy her and her revolution that ultimately led to continued and long-lasting peace among nations. At her funeral, attendance records were shattered, revealing the scope of Karma’s network and the depth of her revolutionary reach and activities. Those who attended Captains Cabin at least 5 times a week were given front row seats.

It is estimated that the 1.8 million people crowded about the Lebanese Shouf for her funeral rivaled American President Barak Obama’s inauguration; upon hearing this news, the New York Times reported that President Obama merely shrugged, saying: “Yes she did, I guess.”

Upon hearing of Karma’s death, a blanket of peace fell over her beloved Beirut, as factions disarmed and parliament adopted an equitable constitution, a feat never before accomplished. A national day of mourning was announced on the 22nd of March, finally spurring the long wished-for “March 22nd Movement.” A martyr of peace, justice, and bloody revolution, Karma Hamady will be remembered for her heart, her steely wit, her style, and her eternal belief that, “One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain. Unless you’re hit by a tour bus.”

A Druze, Karma’s faith believes in reincarnation, so perhaps she is among us again – obviously, no matter what the case, Karma lives on in the global peace her assassination ensured.

But we shall hope that Karma and her father get one or two good conversations in before she returns, likely while riding unicorns bare-backed on the shores of Heaven. For in a revolution of Karma, the work is never done, and Karma isn’t about to entrust her revolution to the world without a smile, a sketch, and a glass of wine in one hand and the other hustling minors out of Captains Cabin.

The Dao that can be experienced is not true;
The world that can be constructed is not true.
The Dao manifests all that happens and may happen;
The world represents all that exists and may exist.
