What happens?

Sooooo…. what happens when you mix an international conglomaration of businesses hoping to rebuild Iraq, a conference designed to put these businesses on display, and bunch of Arabs with too much money, a few British companies who have no idea what they’re doing there, zero Americans, and a white kid with too much time to spend on an afternoon? How about setting Iraqi reconstruction back a few days at least?

Yesterday I had the great honor to be a “VIP” at the “Rebuild Iraq 2006″ convention here in Amman (yes I’m putting that on my resume). My host brother was an usher. And yes, I spent the entire afternoon pretending to be a rich American who may or may not work for the CIA. I priced out Yukon Denali’s with B6 armor plating, got a full tour International’s new Armored Personel Carrier, got in an argument with the woman at Arab Air about whether my Gulf Stream private jet was better than her “King’s Solution” long-distance luxery private jet, discussed the benefits of international shipping through either Sharm al-Sheik or Dubai, was educated on the benefits of long-term versus short-term housing for grain grown in Nigeria, considered buying riot gear for my private security company in Baghdad (I passed because it couldn’t stop an AK47), and recieved almost a perfect score in the ‘Digital Weapons Training System’ developed by a Turkish firm.

All in all, I had a great time. What a riot these people are!
