some guy in lebanon

So last night the family that owns the house we’re living in banned all Arabs from hanging out in the upstairs apartment, despite the fact that the family is, in fact, Arabs. Very interesting. No wonder these people have been shooting each other for five thousand years.

Yesterday I spent a few hours watching TV, which by the way is pretty miserable. Music videos, Quranic resitations, and Everybody Loves Raymond. Yikes.

The apartment is great, though we have zero hot water and can only turn the heat on for an hour a day. It’s soooo bloody cold here!

Anyway I’ve spent a lot of time hanging out with the “brothers,” i.e. the six sons of the family. They’re all about our age or older, and pretty nice guys. The neighborhood here is in West Amman, and predominantly Christian. Hold on one second and I’ll bring up the Google Earth coordinates… 31 degrees 59’24.16 N 35 degrees 50’36.74 E. We put in a marker named “Khalda apt” for those of you who care to look.
